Ask a friend with a female Tinder account to search for your profile. If they can find you: the app is working, your profile is suppressed. What actually causes “Tinder not working”
Algorithm suppression — the most common cause
Tinder ranks every profile. Accounts with years of broad right-swiping, low right-swipe rates on their profile (women not tapping in), or irregular session patterns accumulate negative signals over time. The result is a profile that's technically live but shown to almost nobody. This isn't a ban. It's suppression — and it feels exactly like the app breaking.
Weak profile degrading over time
A profile that was getting 5–10 matches per week two years ago can decay to 0–1 without any changes on your end. The reason: your photos age, your competition improves, and Tinder's ranking factors shift. What worked in 2022 may actively hurt you in 2026. The same photos + same bio = declining results over time.
New photo underperforming as slot 1
A sudden match drop often traces back to a photo change. If you changed your lead photo in the last 1–3 months and matches fell, the new slot 1 photo is likely the problem — either it has poor click-through properties or the swap created a brief algorithm recalibration that showed the profile to a different audience segment.
True account ban (rare)
A genuine ban from TOS violations — fake photos, harassment reports, solicitation, spam — results in an account that's completely removed. Your profile won't show to anyone, and Tinder may send you a suspension notice. This is rare and has a specific fix (full reset with new phone number, email, and device after the violation clears). Most men who think they're banned are suppressed.

Reinstalling the app
Account state is server-side. Reinstalling changes nothing about your rank.
Clearing the cache
Same reason — the suppression is in Tinder's servers, not your phone.
Taking a break
Coming back after weeks inactive makes it worse — dormant accounts re-entering the queue face the same suppression, compounded by inactivity signals.
Buying Boost on a suppressed account
Boost amplifies your existing distribution. A suppressed profile getting 50 impressions per day with Boost gets 500 — still far below an unsuppressed account's baseline.
What actually fixes it
Fix the profile first. The suppression is caused by a low right-swipe rate on your profile — women aren't tapping in when they see your card. The fix is better photos and a bio that converts. Without fixing this, a reset just gives you a fresh account with the same problem.
Do a full account reset. Delete the account, wait 24–48 hours, reinstall, new Apple ID or Google account. This clears the suppression entirely and gives you a new-user boost for 24–72 hours.
Swipe selectively for the first 72 hours. In your first 3 days on the new account, right-swipe only profiles you'd genuinely pursue. Keep your rate under 30%. This establishes high-quality signals from the start — the opposite of what caused suppression.
